SMR focuses its resources on the professional development needs of its members. The scope of development includes the following:

To promote the benefits of professional salesmanship and marketing to industry and to the general public.

To encourage and foster high ethical standards of conduct between Representative and Customer, between Representative and Principal, and between Representative and Representative.

To develop mutually beneficial professional and social relationships between Society members.

To keep Society members updated on market trends and opportunities.

To offer programs of continuing education to Society members in professional sales and marketing as well as other beneficial programs.

To expand the Society’s range of interest to include joint ventures with similar professional organizations on a regional and national level.

Qualifications for SMR Membership
Membership is limited to individuals who are independent contractors and officers/owners of corporations in the sales representative profession. Compensation must be from providing a service to a manufactured product. This would include services that follow a product from inception to completion.
